Summer Camping Trip

Buccaneer State Park, Waveland, Mississippi

July 15-19, 2015

Important Tips

1. GPS directions are NOT correct.  Please see link above

    for correct driving directions.

2. There is plenty of fishing so don't forget to bring your       fishing poles, tackle and bait.

3. Don't forget your GeoCaching gear.  There are

plenty of treasures to be found.

4. Don't forget swimming gear and a life jacket

5. Meals...I would like to put together a meal schedule.       Some of you may want to cook on your own and that's     awesome but if you would like to join in the group for       meals please let text Candie so she can add you to the     schedule. We will notify you before the trip with

details. Just a note...some mornings we will do

community breakfast where every family pitches in           their items. This will be planned once we are at the

    campground.

6. There will be a community tent with tables for

everyone to enjoy.  Look for the sign with the Cajun

Camping Club logo. Everyone has access to this area.

Please follow all rules posted at the tent entrance.

7. You are responsible for your own drinks, snacks,

breakfast and lunch. The meal schedule is for

    dinner/supper only unless otherwise noted.

8. Pets are allowed so don't forget your little critters.

Make sure to bring your pooper scooper with you so

we don't   have critter litter hanging around. There are

also areas that pets are not allowed so be sure you

read on their website where these areas are.

9. Golf carts (battery operated ONLY) are allowed so if

you have one make sure you bring it.

10. Don't forget your Calcutta sunglasses to see all the

little fishies in the water and your sunblock. UV rays

are extremely dangerous and we need to take

precautions of protecting ourselves, our kids and our

    pets.

If you can think of anything I forgot, please shoot me a text and I will add it.

Get ready for some fun in the sun!!!  We are heading to Buccaneer State Park in Waveland, Mississippi.  Sadly we are leaving the boats at home but don't think there is nothing to do.  We have plenty to do!!!  This RV park is located on the Gulf of Mexico coastline which means Sunday service on the beach....woohoo!!!!

Please take time to read the park rules and regulations, which can be found on their website or by clicking here.  There are links to the left with lots of information to help you prepare for the trip, like learning how to surf fish and a camping checklist.  There are also links to the park website and a link for driving directions to the park, which is very important, along with other park information.  They do say that we should NOT follow GPS directions because they are not accurate.  If anyone was on the South Toledo Bend trip they will know that our GPS doesn't always take us to a safe destination.  I encourage everyone to make the whole family familiar with the park and it's surroundings along with learning the basics and safety rules.  We want this to be a memorable and very enjoyable trip with no accidents or injuiries.

Here are some of the ammenities:

Surf Fishing

Surf fishing is a local obsession on the Mississippi Gulf Coast. Locals drive to the beaches to surf fish for their flounders, speckled trout, red fish and spanish mackerels. Since surf fishing requires very little equipment, it is very popular with beginners to fishing purist. Most of the time early and late fishing is most productive. Simply walk out into an area that is about knee level. Begin casting and working a bait across the water. It won’t be long for a you to start getting some fish biting in the surf.
